Precision Tensioning Brake
Hysteresis brakes are ideal for precise tension control applications. Torque is proportional to input current and independent of RPM. Placid Industries' patented Cog-Buster automatically smooths braking torque. Frictionless torque is produced by internal magnetic fields rather than contact between parts, so torque is smooth, accurate, and reliable. Even high slip RPM causes no wear. Torque is smooth even near zero RPM. Units from 0-11 oz.-in. to 250 oz.-inch rated torque, with heat dissipation to 110 watts are available from stock.
Precise payout tension for wire, film & foil is easily maintained, even on open loop systems. Torque feedback with an expensive torque transducer is unnecessary.
