Specialty Motions, Inc. Announces X-TREME(TM) Precision Stage

CORONA, CA, November 20, 2008 - Specialty Motions, Inc. today announced the addition of the X-TREME(TM) Nano-translation Cross Roller Stage to its family of linear motion systems. The X-TREME(TM) is a compact, high performance stage, capable of accuracies up to .14 nanometers (nm) at industry leading speeds up to 6.5 meters per second.

The X-TREME(TM) is currently one of the smallest of its class touting an industry leading compact envelope and low profile design (27mm H x 70mm W) with tremendous load bearing capacities (up to 1,100 pounds based upon 2 mil inch travel). Couple a quiet, frictionless, servo motor and smooth actuation with its compact size and the X-TREME(TM) is the perfect solution for applications requiring precision in a small space.

The X-TREME(TM) is also very versatile. Designed with doweled holes in the base, it is primed for easy mounting and registration utilizing exact locating and center line reference. It can be mounted in single axis or X-Y configurations with no loss of capacity or speed.

Scott Cohen, Engineering Manager at Specialty Motions explained the technical reasons for the new X-TREME(TM). "Cross-Roller ways that provide exceptional straight-line accuracy and load-carrying capability along with linear servo motor technology has yielded an extremely accurate product in a small package size."

Just how accurate is the X-TREME(TM)? Cohen commented: "With the average human hair being .003 inches in diameter, this stage's precision is comparable to splitting that hair into 100,000 equal pieces."

Specialty Motions, Inc. wanted to develop a product that could provide high precision and speed without fiscally jeopardizing its customers. To that end, the X-TREME(TM) is priced approximately one-half that of competitive products in the market.

Celebrating its 19th year Specialty Motions, Inc. continues to develop high quality, low-cost mechanical motion solutions from A to X, Y, & Z!
