Strippit/LVD Introduces PPRM Press Brake for High-Speed Production of Small to Medium Parts

Akron, New York-Strippit/LVD introduces the PPRM precision press brake featuring a reluctance motor that achieves higher bending speeds than most conventional hydraulic machines. The PPRM delivers working speeds of up to 59" per minute (25 mm per second) at reduced load, depending on application and safety requirements. The press brake is ideal for bending small- to medium-sized high precision parts.

The PPRM is a 35-ton machine with a working length of 49.2" (1250 mm). The machine's high production capacity is attributed to a simple working principle. The press brake ram is supported by springs and uses two single-acting hydraulic cylinders. Each hydraulic cylinder is directly connected with a hydraulic pump driven by a servomotor. There are no switching valves in the hydraulic circuit and no lapsed time in the ram cycle because of mechanical movement of the valves. The result is higher production rates and greater machine reliability.

The PPRM is designed for efficiency and long production life. The press brake consumes on average 30 percent less energy than conventional hydraulic press brakes. There are no mechanical components such as ball screws or gearboxes that will exhibit wear from friction and reduce accuracy.

The PPRM's bending force is proportional with the torque of the servomotor, which can easily be controlled for the application. The bending force can be reduced to five percent of the maximum load, allowing the user to work with small tools without risk of damage.

The machine features a 3.9" (100 mm) throat allowing access to both ends of the ram and bed for tool loading. The machine provides an open height of 15.1" (385 mm), ram stroke of 7.3" (185 mm), backgauge X-axis travel of 19.7" (500 mm) and R-axis travel of 7.8" (200 mm).

The press brake is equipped with Strippit/LVD's easy-to-use CADMAN® Express CNC control, a Windows® based system with a user-friendly interface for all levels of programming experience. The control features an Intel Pentium microprocessor, 20 GB hard disk drive, CD ROM and 12" TFT screen.

CADMAN Express makes bending easy with a number of automatic features, including automatic calculation of bend allowance, automatic selection of tools based on material thickness, and automatic calculation of the lower dead point (Y-stroke). It features graphical representation of tools, program overview in editor and production modes, graphical representation of tools and backgauge in production mode, and an easy method of angle and bend allowance compensation.

Available as an option is Strippit/LVD's CADMAN-B 3D offline programming software, which provides graphic simulation of bending sequences, including the back gauge position, tool selection and tool set-up.

The PPRM requires minimal floor space and enables ergonomic operation from a sitting position.

Compact and portable, the PPRM can be easily relocated using a forklift, making it ideal for cell manufacturing. The machine is supported on three rubber mounting pads that facilitate easy installation and relocation.

Strippit/LVD is a leading manufacturer of metalforming equipment, including laser cutting machines, CNC turret punch presses, flexible fabricating systems, press brakes, shears, and programming software.
