Pratt & Whitney Wins US$200 Million V2500Select® Engine Deal from Tiger Airways


SINGAPORE, Feb. 19 -- SINGAPORE AIRSHOW -- Singapore-based Tiger Airways has selected the International Aero Engines V2500Select to power 20 Airbus A320-family jets, as part of a fleet expansion plan. The order for engines to power 20 firm aircraft is valued at more than $200 million for Pratt & Whitney if all options are exercised. The engines will be backed by a long-term V2500Select service agreement. Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX) company, is a major partner in International Aero Engines.

"Their decision is a testament to the V2500's reliability in a market that demands the lowest possible fuel burn and overall emissions."

Tiger Airways currently operates a fleet of 12 V2500-powered Airbus A320 family aircraft, with 58 engines on firm order, deliveries are expected through 2016.

The 22,000-33,000lb of thrust V2500-A5 is available in seven different thrust settings to power the Airbus A319, A320 and A321 family of aircraft as well as the A319 Corporate Jet.
