Pratt & Whitney to Demonstrate the Most Accurate, Direct-Reading, Measuring Instrument in the World

Bloomfield, CT, July 11, 2007 - Pratt & Whitney will showcase their Labmaster Universal ID/OD measuring instrument at this years Quality Expo trade show (booth # 7814). The laser-based Labmaster® Universal has been developed by Pratt & Whitney for gage calibration laboratories that need to precisely measure length, outside diameter, inside diameter, pitch diameter, linear displacement, and thickness.

The Labmaster® Universal is capable of measuring gage blocks, end standards, plain rings, threaded rings & plugs, pin & plug gages, tapered plugs, cylindrical setting gages, ball bearings, micrometers, indicators, LVDTs, calipers, and snap gages with instrument uncertainty to 2 millionths of an inch (0.05 micron). It is suitable for virtually all ID and OD applications through its wide 0.020-inch (0.5 mm) to 14-inches (356 mm) measuring range.

High accuracy is maintained by its laser interferometer, zero Abbe offset design, and large measuring table with center position, pitch, and yaw controls. The computer-controlled precision air-bearing slide and gaging fingers remove operator-influenced errors commonly observed with traditional gaging methods by maintaining constant force. It also greatly minimizes 'wear and tear' to both the measuring standards and the instrument.

The GageCal® gage calibration software controls the operation of the Labmaster® Universal and facilitates data collection. Dimensional data can be transferred to Word, Excel, or your favorite spreadsheet for creating a calibration certificate.

Pratt & Whitney designs, manufactures, and services dimensional metrology systems used in gage calibration laboratories throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia.
