Pratt & Whitney Qualifies Fokker Aerostructures as a Production Source for the F135 Static Structure, Awards Follow-On Contract for Additional Work


FARNBOROUGH, England - FARNBOROUGH AIR SHOW -- Pratt & Whitney has completed the first article inspection of a production quality static structure for the F135 engine produced by Fokker Aerostructures, a company based in The Netherlands. In addition, Pratt & Whitney has signed a Letter of Intent with Fokker to produce F135 engine synchronizing rings. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company.

"We are very pleased to accept this first production quality static structure for the F135 engine produced by Fokker," said Warren Boley, President of Pratt & Whitney military engines. "The letter of intent for additional work on the F135 illustrates our confidence in Fokker as a best value source, to use their state-of-art high-speed machining capability to deliver high-quality components for the F135 engine."
