Pratt & Whitney Powers Northwest Airlines Transatlantic Service from Connecticut to Europe


EAST HARTFORD, Conn., July 2 - A Northwest Airlines Boeing 757-200, powered by Pratt & Whitney PW2037 engines, flew from Hartford's Bradley International Airport to Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport marking the launch of the first non-stop service between Connecticut and Europe. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

"Earlier this year, Northwest chose Pratt & Whitney for a 20-year maintenance and overhaul agreement covering all engines powering their 757 and A330 aircraft. Bradley International Airport is the second largest in New England serving the Northeast including Connecticut, western Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey. The new daily flight is timed to enable single connections to 81 cities in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India through Northwest/KLM's Amsterdam hub. Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is consistently ranked as one of the most convenient and passenger friendly airports in the world.

The PW2000 family of engines offers low operating cost and high-reliability for Boeing 757 aircraft. Since entering service, PW2000 family engines have logged more than 36 million flight hours.
