PPCM Introduces New Honeycomb Packaging Machine

Premier Paper Converting Machinery (New Berlin, Wis.) has introduced custom machinery that produces honeycomb panels for protecting large products, such as consumer white goods, when shipped in corrugate boxes. The new PPCM converting machinery is fed by four large 98-inch wide rolls of Kraft paper, each one weighing up to 5,300 lb. To hold these huge rolls during unwinding, custom carbon fiber air shafts were supplied by NimCor, Inc. (Nashua, N.H.), a nationally known producer of both conventional and composite air shafts and related core chuck products. The NimCor carbon fiber air shafts are exactly 100 mm in diameter and weight less than 140 lbs - light enough for two people to safety handle. NimCor was chosen to engineer and produce the custom airs shafts given the company's in-house carbon fiber tube winding capabilities and expertise in engineering custom air shafts of all sizes.
