Toroidal Power Transformers for Standard and Special Design Requirements
The Bicron AU/BU Series Toroidal Power Transformers are designed for 120/240V primary input and 6V to 120V secondary output. Standard models cover power ranges from 20VA to 10KVA. Applications include "UPS" systems, inverters/converters, fuel cells, power conditioners, and lighting equipment. Many special design options are available for encapsulation, mounting, terminal strips and additional shielding. The AU/BU Series Power Transformers meet CSA, IEC and VDE standards, and are recognized under UL478, UL1446, UL6500, and UL544.
Bicron's power transformers meet a wide variety of requirements using standard configurations. A "Modified Standard", however, can be readily supplied to meet requirements for custom configurations at minimum costs, little delay and without voiding safety recognitions. Special design options include encapsulation, mounting, terminal strips, and additional shielding.
Toroidal transformers have many inherent advantages over stacked laminated constructions including 30% to 50% lower weight and size, better voltage regulation, very low electromagnetic radiation and up to 90% less mechanical hum. Efficiencies run to 85%-95% and off-load power consumption is a small fraction of that used by laminated transformers of equal power rating.
Typical pricing, for example, for a 70VA power transformer is less than $9.00 in OEM quantities.
