ASCO Introduces 7000 Series Service Entrance Rated Power Transfer Switch

New system includes utility-side overcurrent protection in an integrated solution

LAS VEGAS, NV, December 11, 2001-The new ASCO 7000 Series Service Entrance Rated Power Transfer Switch now includes utility-side overcurrent protection in one integrated power solution.

The power transfer switch meets all National Electric Code requirements for installation at a facility's main utility service entrance. Service entrance rated transfer switches generally are installed at facilities that have a single utility feed and a single emergency power source.

Connections to the utility feed for all phases, neutral and ground can be disconnected at the switch. A circuit breaker serves as the disconnect device for the normal source. Two links are provided to disconnect both neutral and ground connections.

Standardized, configured-to-order design minimizes cost and shortens lead times for the switch. The service entrance rated switch is available in ratings from 150 to 4000 amperes and up to 600 volts. Ground fault protection is available as required by the NEC. The switch can be configured for single-phase or three-phase applications and for indoor (Type1) and outdoor (Type 3R) use.

Besides its service entrance rating, the transfer switch is listed to Underwriters Laboratories 1008 and the entire system is listed to UL 891. Available switching configurations are open transition, delayed transition, closed-transition transfer and soft load closed-transition. Bypass-isolation is available for all switching configurations.

Optional accessories include ASCO Power Manager and SiteWeb(TM) Thin Web Server for Web-enabled monitoring and control.

The switch enclosure's footprint is smaller than those of traditional service entrance rated switches and, in fact, the ASCO 150 - 400 ampere service entrance rated transfer switches can be wall mounted. Most product configurations are furnished in one enclosure.
