Control and Maintain Electrical Devices from Anywhere with Dataprobe's iBoot DC

Unique power switch saves time and money by allowing geographically dispersed and remote equipment to be controlled via the Web

PARAMUS, NJ; March 15, 2006 - Dataprobe, a leading manufacturer of innovative technology solutions for networking, systems and site management, has released a direct current (DC) version of its iBoot remote power solution. The iBoot DC is designed to provide simple, remote power control and management for computing and other devices, particularly in rural or unmonitored areas.

The iBoot DC is a single circuit power switch that allows remote equipment to be rebooted or power-controlled over an IP network using a simple Web browser interface. Users can connect any DC electrical powered device to the iBoot for simple and instantaneous power-on, power-off or reboot. This allows users to protect and maintain the uptime of devices in areas that cannot easily be accessed or serviced.

Industries that rely on equipment in areas without traditional AC power are particularly suited for the iBoot DC. These include security installations, flow monitoring, pumping facilities, seismic monitoring and weather stations, among others. The iBoot DC is also crucial in battery-only power areas, benefiting applications like cellular, microwave, hotspots and radio.

"The iBoot is an ideal solution for geographically dispersed and remote networking installations," said David Weiss, CEO of Dataprobe. "Technology has become so independent that many businesses have become reliant on autonomous and remotely-located devices to power day-to-day operations. The iBoot saves these users time and money by allowing devices at 'lights-out' or inaccessible locations to be maintained and controlled from anywhere."

In addition to its core functions, the iBoot DC can be programmed to periodically monitor the operating status of the network or network-attached device through a unique 'Auto Ping' feature. When the pinged device fails, the iBoot will perform a reboot or other power function to return the device or network to operability.

iBoot is available for $295 via Dataprobe's Web site and through their reseller channels.
