Phihong's PSA15R Adapter Meets Energy Star® And CEC Requirements

FREMONT, Calif. (August 23, 2005) - Phihong USA, a global leader in electronic accessories and power supplies, has developed a 15Watt wall plug adapter that meets both ENERGY STAR® and California Energy Commission (CEC) requirements.

"Beginning June 1, 2006, all external power supply products shipping into California must comply with the CEC standard, and existing inventory will be taken off the shelves if it doesn't," said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong USA. "Many products do not currently comply with the standards and time is running out for OEMs if they want to make the deadline. The majority of our products comply with ENERGY STAR standards, and in addition to the PSA15R adapter, we are working towards meeting the CEC requirements with more of our products as well."

The 15Watt adapters are ideal for low power electronic products including cable/DSL routers, access points, multimedia IP phones, security cameras, battery chargers, credit card validation and other professional electronic device applications.

The universal input and interchangeable clip adapter plugs enable the power supply to be connected to virtually any power outlet in the world and simplifies inventory and approvals with a single part number. AC Clips are available for the United States, Europe, United Kingdom, China, Argentina and Australia.

The California Energy Commission approved new energy saving standards in order to slow down the demand for electricity throughout the state. According to the CEC Web site (www.energy.ca.gov), the energy savings from the new standards over the next ten years will enable the state to avoid building three large power plants.

On average, ENERGY STAR-approved models are 35 percent more efficient than conventional designs, and often are lighter and smaller in size. In January of 2005, Phihong became the first external power supply manufacturer to be named a partner of the Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR® program.

The adapter has received safety approvals from cUL/UL, TUV, SAA, CE, C-Tick and CCC (except for 48V). It provides no-load power consumption of less than 0.5W, as well as low leakage current with a maximum of 0.25mA.

Typical pricing for the plug adapters starts at $9.88 in quantities of 1,000. The AC clips are sold separately. Lead times are from stock to 12 weeks.
