New FieldLink® Power Supplies Designed for Bus Networking

FERGUS FALLS, MN (July 8, 2003) - New FieldLink® Power Supplies from StoneL offer the reliability and capabilities necessary for the demanding requirements of communication networking in the process industries. Available models are specifically designed for use with AS-interface, Foundation Fieldbus, DeviceNet, Modbus, Profibus PA and DP, as well as conventional applications. The Foundation Fieldbus power supplies are capable of operating redundantly on the same network, providing additional reliability.

The integrated solid-state circuitry in FieldLink power supplies has been designed to limit current output under overload or short circuit conditions. Should current levels exceed maximum rating, the power supply will automatically begin limiting current. If current continues to increase, the unit will also begin reducing voltage, thereby restricting power to 100 watts. Potential damage to networking components is eliminated and safety hazards minimized.

StoneL has designed FieldLink power supplies to meet the Class 2 ratings, yet supply ample power for most bus networks. They also allow networking installations in hazardous Division 2 areas to take advantage of Instrument Tray Cabling (ITC) or Power Limited Tray Cabling concepts, which dramatically cut wiring costs from conventional conduit run wiring.

StoneL FieldLink® power supplies are fully compliant with the requirements for Class I, Division 2 hazardous field environments. This means that the power supply can be located near the field components for greater installation flexibility and minimizing of voltage drops over the bus network.

A wide temperature range (from -40°F to +140°F) makes FieldLink power supplies suitable for most process environments. They are DIN rail mountable for convenient attachment to StoneL's FieldRack or other standard enclosures.
