New Metabo Universal Corded Screwdriver Offers High Torque Performance for Multiple Applications

West Chester, PA, September 2002 - Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, has introduced the USE 8, a professional corded power screwdriver designed for virtually any high torque application.

The new USE 8, featuring a 4.8 amp motor, provides 10 easily adjustable torque settings ranging from 27 to 159 inch lbs. The screwdriver also features both torque switch-off and depth-stop switch-off for maximum versatility. In addition, the USE 8 offers a "rigid drive" setting that provides up to 354 inch lbs. of torque with the torque clutch disengaged, permitting screws up to 5/16" diameter and 16" length to be driven without any pre-drilling. In the "rigid drive" mode, the USE 8's depth-stop switch-off adds increased depth control accuracy over visual switch-off.

The USE 8 easily handles self-drilling screws up to 1/4" in diameter, self-tapping screws up to 5/16" in diameter, and drywall and wood screws from 1/8"-5/16" in diameter. A two-piece depth stop (adjustable to 1/100") allows a screwdriver bit or nutsetter to be replaced without losing the selected depth setting.

The new screwdriver provides infinite speed adjustment and a patented reversing feature, permitting the direction of rotation to be reversed without losing power. The USE 8 features a durable die-cast aluminum housing that minimizes weight (tool weight is only 4.5 lbs.) and effectively dissipates heat, to help maximize service life.
