Power Injectors suit Power-over-Ethernet applications.

Press Release Summary:

Single-port Model PSA19U is fully compliant with IEEE 802.3af international standard and provides 20 W, while Model PSA29U provides 30 W. Power-over-Ethernet allows both power and data to be carried over single Ethernet cable, enabling access point to operate entirely from power it receives through data cable. Units feature ac input voltage of 90-264 Vac with voltage range from 100-240 Vac and ac input frequency from 47-63 Hz.

Phihong Ships Power-over-Ethernet Single Port Injector for High Power Needs

FREMONT, Calif. (January 17, 2005) - Phihong, the global leader in low cost power supplies, introduces its PSA19U and PSA29U high power single port power injectors for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) applications. The PSA19U high power one port injector is fully compliant with the new IEEE802.3af international standard and provides 20W, while the PSA29U provides 30W in a proprietary design. The product is ideal for applications such as wireless multi-radio access points with A,B and G standards, Pan Tilt Zoom cameras, and IP phones with streaming video displays.

"In offering PoE for high power applications, it was important that we use the same principles of protecting equipment as the current IEEE802.3af standard," said Keith Hopwood, Vice President of Marketing for Phihong USA. "There are some products out there that claim to offer PoE compatibility, but they are simply dumb injectors that can damage an overall system. Designers need a solution that offers fully compliant detection and disconnect to avoid those problems."

PoE technology offers an effective and efficient solution to systems designers facing problems involving the availability of AC electrical outlets and the placement of access points. Power-over-Ethernet allows both power and data to be carried over a single Ethernet cable, enabling an access point to operate entirely from the power it receives through the data cable.

In addition to providing a single cable connection to the access point, it provides uninterrupted service in case of power failure. Other benefits include a more cost-effective installation, eliminating expensive wiring to code standards and the need for additional outlets to be installed on a wall or ceiling.

The high power single port injectors are available in a 20W on spare pair version and a 30W using both data and spare pair.
AC input voltage range for the single port injector is 90VAC to 264VAC with voltage range from 100VAC to 240VAC and AC input frequency from 47Hz to 63Hz. Both types offer fully compliant detection, connection, disconnection and fault protection per the IEEE standard.

The adapter features 3 LEDs that indicate power, connection and faults to ease installation and set-up. Safety approvals include cUL, TUV and CE double insulated class 2. Approvals for EMI are EN55022 Class B, FCC part 15 Class B. Phihong is an expert at international safety agency approvals and can offer almost any international safety or EMC compliance standard.
Pricing for the PSA19U and PSA29U starts at $24.95 in OEM quantities. More information is available on the web site, at www.phihong.com.
