New Higher Current Inductor for Power Applications

Unique "SMP 1812" Power Inductors from Gowanda Electronics Deliver Highest Current Rating Available in this Package Design

6 May 2002, Gowanda, NY (USA) - Gowanda Electronics announces the introduction of a new high efficiency series of surface mount power inductors. This new SMP 1812 Series delivers the highest current rating of any inductor currently available in this package design.

This new inductor series will enable engineers to design circuitry with higher current handling capability AND reduced board space. With the continuing trend for smaller and smaller electronic devices and related components, the SMP 1812 Series not only responds to the market need for smaller size components, but does so while delivering higher current handling performance in a standard package size. This combination of size reduction and increased performance makes the SMP 1812 series extremely efficient and unique in the marketplace and will enable the pursuit of designs which can leverage the benefits of this combination.

This SMP 1812 Series of surface mount inductors is specifically targeted for use in DC/DC Converters and Power Supply applications where both high performance and small size are critical for current and future products.

Specific applications include microprocessor and distributed power applications - including power supplies, power regulators, and DC to DC converters - especially in test & measurement equipment, medical diagnostic equipment, and industrial process control equipment. Other applications include use in security systems, instrumentation, bar code and laboratory analysis equipment.

Technical specifications for products in Gowanda's SMP 1812 inductor series include: inductance from 1 to 330 microHenries, current ratings from 2018 to 124 milliAmps and saturation current from 2500 to 129 milliAmps. An RF version of the SMP 1812 series is also available; please refer to SMRF 1812 for RF applications (news release dated 27 March 2002).

The Gowanda Electronics SMP 1812 series of inductors offers custom designs that meet the specific requirements of an application. For design details or custom requirements contact Gowanda Electronics at (716) 532-2234 or check the company website at www.gowanda.com. Typical pricing for the SMP 1812 series is $.29 each (US Funds) in production quantities.

This new SMP 1812 inductor series complements Gowanda's extensive range of leading edge designs for power and RF applications, including its most recently introduced "SMRF 1812" Surface Mount RF Inductors Offer Robust Design, "SMT35A Inductors With Versatility and Efficiency, "SMRF 2007" Vertical Surface Mount Inductors, "SMP 2007" Miniature Vertical Surface Mount Inductors, "CC" Solder-Friendly Surface Mount Inductors, "CMF2" Surface Mount Common Mode Filters, and "Power Pod" Surface Mount Inductors.
