Murata Electronics Adds to Compact Power Inductor Line

LQH55P Series Ideal for Power Line Filtering, Yields Longer Battery Life

Smyrna, GA, September 16, 2008 - Murata Electronics North America, a world-leading innovator in electronics and the largest global supplier of ceramic passive components, today introduced the new LQH55P series of compact power inductors. Unique because it enables wide inductance and low DC resistance, this product utilizes wire-wound technology and advanced ferrite materials to provide exceptional electrical characteristics. The LQH55P series is in a 5.8mm x 5.2mm package that produces inductances from 1.2µH up to 22µH with currents as high as 2.9A. Further, the DC resistance is lowest in class when compared to other competing products.

This series is ideal for power line filtering with regard to DC/DC converter applications for portable equipment such as digital cameras, hard disk drives (HDD) for laptops, and other consumer electronics products. As one of the most critical requirements is minimal loss in order to achieve a higher level of efficiency, the product offers both low DC resistance and low power loss. With lower DC resistance, the more efficient the converter and the longer the battery life for the above mentioned portable equipment.

"Murata developed the LQH55P in order to enable design engineers to fully realize the benefits of a more effective DC/DC converter," said Deryl Kimbro, Group Product Manager for Murata Electronics North America. "With ever-evolving, more advanced and sophisticated consumer products hitting the market every day, increased battery life is a lifeline for the end user."

Samples of Murata's LQH55P are available for $0.20 per inductor. Lead time is approximately six to eight weeks. Additional purchasing info can be found online at www.murata-northamerica.com.
