Original Press Release:

HP Power Distribution Unit with Power Monitoring in Single and Three-Phase Models

Houston, January 11, 2005 - HP introduces the HP Power Distribution Unit with Power Monitoring to support rack- mount applications with either single-phase power or three-phase power. These rack-mount power distribution units (PDU) provide both single-phase and three-phase monitored power, as well as full-rack power utility ranging from 7,300 watts up to 22,000 watts. Available PDUs include single mount models with 39 (thirty-nine) receptacles and dual mount models with 78 (seventy-eight) receptacles.

As power demands from IT equipment continue to rise, more power is needed in the rack just to run those installed devices. HP PDUs with Power Monitoring will provide the needed power to support servers, storage, networking, and other infrastructure equipment. A local power display on the PDU delivers the ability to set up and configure the PDU and monitor the PDU power for RMS current, status, and overload conditions.

The HP Power Distribution Unit with Power Monitoring comes in single- and dual-input models and fits in any side of the rack with power cords extending from either the bottom or top of the rack. For input feeds, the unit has 36 (thirty-six) C13 receptacles plus 3 (three) C19 receptacles per input with uniquely color-coded load identification for all receptacles, display and circuit breakers.

The HP PDU with Power Monitoring enables data centers to provide full rack power from a single power distribution unit with up to 22,000 watts. Available products include single-phase power or three-phase power, as well as single-input models or dual-input models for increased power redundancy. Both single-phase and three-phase models deliver single-phase power to equipment.

Power monitoring
The HP PDU with Power Monitoring provides local power display. Each PDU chassis includes two serial ports - one for local set-up and configuration and one for attachment of the optional SNMP module. The local user interface consists of a basic control panel that includes a two-digit 7-segment display, a recessed reset button, a scroll/invert button and 6 segment-dedicated LEDs. Remote power monitoring will be available with an optional serial SNMP card at a future date.

Pricing and Availability
Sold through Authorized Dealers, the HP Power Distribution Unit with Power Monitoring is available now with U.S. Internet price ranging from $499 to $1199 depending on model amperage and number of power phases. Pricing may vary by country or region.
