Power Distribution Unit operates locally or remotely.

Press Release Summary:

DC SMARTstart PDU controls and monitors two sets of 6 independent loads. Each output channel is rated to operate at 4 A of dc continuous power and trip at 5.3 A of nominal dc. Remote operation is via RS232 serial console port or LAN TCP/IP telnet connection. PDU monitors line voltage, load current, and internal temperature, and has reverse polarity protection. Programmable power-on and off sequencing delays manage level of inrush current transients.

Original Press Release:

Power Distribution Unit for Remote / Local DC Power Management

Fairview, PA - July 12, 2002 - The new DC SMARTstart power distribution unit (PDU) for remote and/or local power management is now available from Spectrum Control. The DC SMARTstart is used to monitor and control power for secondary distribution and incorporates both manual and remote operation. Remote operation is accomplished through either an RS-232 serial console port or LAN TCP/IP telnet connection. These units are designed to maximize network uptime with a rapid circuit breaker trip time (up to 10 times faster than conventional breakers) and reliable over/under voltage protection.

DC SMARTstart units feature independent programmable power-on and off sequencing delays that manage the level of inrush current transients. DC SMARTstart PDUs monitor line voltage, load current and internal temperature and offer reverse polarity protection. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) is utilized to program the power up/down sequence of the PDU and power up/down delays for each channel.

Spectrum Control DC SMARTstart PDUs will control and monitor two sets of six independent 4-amp loads. Each output channel is rated to operate at 4 amps of DC continuous power and trip at 5.3 amps of nominal DC. Trip settings are preset and incorporated at the time of production. Front panel-mounted remote control circuit breakers provide over current protection of 30 or 60 amps to the PDU and controlled secondary equipment. Breakers may also be used to power-on or off each output bank (by local or remote operation). Units feature an input voltage range of 38.5 to 72 VDC. The operating temperature rating is 0-45 deg C and the operating humidity rating is 0-95% (non-condensing). A DC SMARTstart PDU may be rack-mounted or used as a tabletop unit.
