Power Distribution Terminal suits voltage drop applications.

Press Release Summary:

Power Distribution Terminal works with Power Clamp terminal block to simplify wiring when using large conductors to eliminate voltage drop. Rated for up to 57 A, 1,000 V, 24 to 6 AWG, Power Distribution Terminal is inserted into spring tension slot to connect to current carrying bar. It has 2 connection points for wiring 2 local devices or wiring 1 local device and commoning adjacent terminals. It identifies circuits with 2 marker facilities per terminal.

New Accessory Simplifies Wiring in Voltage Drop Applications

Germantown, WI, Sept. 2002 The WAGO Power Distribution Terminal, Part No. 285-407, is a new accessory for the WAGO Power Clamp terminal block. In combination with the Power Clamp, the Power Distribution Terminal simplifies wiring when using large conductors to eliminate voltage drop in industrial applications. The use of larger conductors can make wiring to local devices difficult and cumbersome. The WAGO Power Clamp System allows larger conductors/feeder circuit (2 AWG-000 AWG) to be wired to the Power Clamp and smaller conductors/ branch (24 AWG-6 AWG) for wiring of local devices, to be wired to the Power Distribution Terminal.

The NEC contains several rules that require the wire gauge to be of adequate size to accommodate for voltage drop, says Jim Bachle, Electrical Product Manager at WAGO. This is an extremely important issue, as a loss in voltage on inductive loads, such as a motor, can result in overheating and lead to shortened equipment life.

The Power Distribution Terminal is simply inserted into a spring tension slot, located on the Power Clamp terminal block, thereby making the connection to the current carrying bar. It features two connection points for wiring of two local devices, or wiring of one local device and commoning adjacent terminals. With two marker facilities per terminal, identification of circuits and/or devices is quickly and easily accomplished. In addition, the utilization of CAGE CLAMP spring pressure termination technology reduces wiring time by up to 50% when compared to conventional screw clamp systems and provides a secure vibration-proof, maintenance-free connection.

The Power Distribution Terminal is rated for up to 57A, 1000V, 24-6 AWG (UL and CSA Pending), and is economically priced at $2.05 each, list price.

The WAGO Power Clamp is the only spring pressure, DIN rail mount terminal block capable of handling 200A/1000V, is touch safe and uses coil spring technology that allows for connection of conductors from 2 AWG to 3/0.
