IDT Introduces First Power Converter and Timing Chipset with Coupled Inductor Technology

IDT Now First Company to Offer VRM and VRD Solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT®; NASDAQ: IDTI), a leading provider of essential mixed signal semiconductor solutions, today announced a new family of voltage regulators designed to help customers reduce their total system power loss by combining the IDT innovative timing portfolio with a multi-phase controller and featuring coupled inductor technology. This new solution is designed to improve system performance and power consumption in computing applications, such as desktops, notebooks, gaming systems, servers and workstations.

Following the recent IKOR acquisition, IDT now offers a complete power management solution featuring coupled inductor technology and VR controllers. This unique solution from IDT minimizes power loss while further reducing the total system bill of materials. In addition, IDT now becomes the only company to offer a voltage regulator module (VRM) and a voltage regulator down (VRD) solution.

"We took a system-level approach to reduce power loss and applied our product innovation engine to the power efficiency issue within computing and consumer platforms," said Arman Naghavi, vice president and general manager of the Audio and Power Division at IDT. "This solution gives tremendous flexibility to our customers. They can buy an off-the-shelf VRM or can buy our controller and coupled inductor to make their own VRD solution."

This power management solution features a new multiphase power converter paired with a new system clock-power console. The IDT P62000 multiphase controller is a flexible two-, three- or four-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) device capable of meeting precise voltage regulation requirements for advanced microprocessors. The IDT solution is fully compliant with the current VR11.1 with a roadmap into the upcoming VR12, providing increased design flexibility. The 9CPS4592 system clock-power console communicates with the IDT multiphase power converter over a serial interface to provide real-time power-usage control of the peripheral components. This patented chip-to-chip architecture helps IDT customers simplify design, reduce power consumption and save board space by eliminating the need for additional devices to achieve this communication.

Pricing and Availability

The new P62000 power converter is priced at $0.98 for 10,000 units and is available in a QFN 64-pin package. The 9CPS4592 clock is priced at $0.80 for 10,000 units and is available in a TSSOP 64-pin package. For additional information, visit www.IDT.com/go/power-management.
