Power Co-Generation Packages produce power, heat, and cooling.

Press Release Summary:

Trigeneration packages enable simultaneous production of power, heat, and cooling from single heat source and are available in generating capacities from 200 kW to 2 MW. Units feature heat and power generation combined with ECO-MAX(TM) adsorption chillers which convert waste heat into chilled water for air conditioning or process use. Generating power using micro turbines, reciprocating engines, or fuel cells, they include skid-mounted cooling tower, pumps, piping, sensors, and chiller.

Power Partners Announces Trigeneration Packages

ATHENS, GA - Power Partners, Inc., announced today the availability of trigeneration packages that combine cogeneration, also known as combined heat and power or CHP, with its ECO-MAX(TM) adsorption chillers, which convert waste heat into chilled water for air conditioning or process use. The new packages enable simultaneous production of power, heat and cooling from a single heat source and result in overall system efficiency.

With Power Partners' extensive manufacturing capabilities, world-class test facility and engineering expertise, the new trigeneration packages are a natural extension of the company's product portfolio. ECO-MAX adsorption chillers can be driven by the waste heat from factory processes, CHP or solar thermal collectors.

"With increasing electricity rates - as well as pressure to cut expenses, increase air quality and reduce emissions - commercial, industrial and utility companies and other types of organizations are seeking ways to use energy more efficiently," said Mike Stonecipher, ECO-MAX Chillers Business Segment Leader for Power Partners. "Trigeneration is becoming a preferred method to produce a company's or facility's power and energy requirements. Our new trigeneration packages will enable savings in capital and energy costs."

Initially, Power Partners' trigeneration packages will be available in generating capacities from 200 kW to 2MW. The power can be generated by micro turbines, reciprocating engines or fuel cells. Each package includes:

  • CHP equipment

  • An ECO-MAX adsorption chiller

  • Cooling tower, pumps, piping, sensors for generator & chiller, mounted on skids

Each complete trigeneration system will receive standard full load testing prior to shipment from Power Partners' factory. Containerization is available, and Power Partners can custom-design the trigeneration packages to meet specific customer requirements. Trigeneration is also known as combined cooling, heating and power, or CCHP.

    About Power Partners

Power Partners manufactures and markets energy-efficient, environmentally friendly ECO-MAX adsorption chillers (www.eco-maxchillers.com). It is one of the ten largest women-owned businesses in the United States as certified by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).

Using water, ECO-MAX adsorption chillers are more reliable than absorption chillers because they do not contain lithium bromide as absorption chillers do. With ECO-MAX adsorption chillers, there are no crystallization problems, no corrosion, no chemical testing and no hazardous leaks. Water is adsorbed onto a bed of silica gel and regenerated under low pressure to produce chilled water. ECO-MAX adsorption chillers need no compressors, no high pressure refrigerants and no oil changes, and they create virtually no noise or vibration. Ultra-low electricity usage means low operating costs and exceptionally low carbon emissions.

For 50 years, Power Partners' facility in Athens, GA, has been a leading manufacturer of overhead distribution transformers for the electric power industry. More recently, it has been producing ECO-MAX adsorption chillers and solar water heating systems.
Power Partners is a partner in the EPA's Combined Heat and Power Partnership (CHP) and a partner in the Green Supplier Network. The company is ISO 14001: 2004 certified.
