Coleman Powermate Introduces Two New PowerBench(TM) Portable Power Centers

AURORA, Ill., June 6, 2002 - An air compressor, a workstation and tool caddy may sound like three separate components, but now they've been brought together in one portable unit. Coleman Powermate, Inc. today introduced two new PowerBench(TM) portable power centers that integrate a 95-125 PSI working pressure air compressor into a sturdy workbench that can hold up to 300 pounds. "The PowerBench center is ideal for do-it-yourselfers who want an air compressor but just don't have the space," said Ginnie Faller, air compressor product manager for Coleman Powermate. Instead of taking up more space, the PowerBench center is actually designed to help homeowners clean up the clutter in their garages, according to Faller. The workbench surface is 23 inches by 48 inches, and it also includes an 18-inch wide drawer, air hose hook, small storage tray, and detachable protective end caps allowing endless attachment configurations. Premium Model The red, 6-horsepower model features a fully enclosed, oil-free, direct drive air compressor with sound dampening inserts for quieter operation. With no oil to add or change and no belts or pulleys to replace, it's virtually maintenance free. Premium Plus Model The black, 5-horsepower, oil-lubricated model features a belt drive air compressor. It is fully enclosed for extra quiet operation, and it includes a twin-cylinder pump that combines cast iron cylinders with aluminum cooling fins for cooler, longer-lasting operation. "Both Power Bench air compressors include a 20-gallon air tank with a lever-activated valve for no-hassle moisture drainage, and a 120-volt motor with an extra-long 20-foot power cord that wraps neatly on the back of the unit," said Faller. The control panels include a 3/8-inch high flow regulator, working pressure gauge, tank pressure gauge, brass universal quick connect, pressure relief valve and on/off switch. Both models include heavy-duty 2-inch by 5-inch diameter casters for maximum portability (two are locking swivel, two are fixed), as well as two grab handles for enhanced mobility and easy repositioning of the unit. The Premium and Premium Plus models can be special ordered through the Sears and Northern Tool catalogs.
