Power and Signal Connectors have molded strain relief design.

Press Release Summary:

Ultra-Fit connectors offer characteristics of Mini-Fit and Micro-Fit 3.0 connectors with, but not limited to, additional color-coded housings, optional TPA retainer to reduce terminal backout, and reduced profile up to 20%. For terminating to cable or wire harness assembly, solutions accommodate 2 options: overmolding, which encapsulates terminals with such resin as PVC or TPR, or injection molding, which also integrates strain relief to provide additional flexibility and ruggedness.

Original Press Release:

Molded Strain Relief Design For New Ultra-Fit Molex Connectors

Molex’s improved Ultra-Fit connector line looks to offer proven characteristics of the Mini-Fit and Micro-Fit 3.0 connectors with, but not limited to the addition of color-coded housings, optional TPA retainer to reduce terminal backout and a reduced profile up to 20%.

This style of power and signal connectors have proven to be cost effective and functional for many applications, however in our experience lack structure and durability when terminated to a cable or wire harness assembly. One solution is overmolding the connector which encapsulates the terminals with a durable resin such as PVC or a TPR. Injection molding also integrates a strain relief providing added flexibility and a further degree of ruggedness to the area typical assemblies see the most stress.

If you’re needing a more cost effective solution ISC’s design could allow for a discrete slip-on boot to be made for Ulta-Fit connectors which could be applied in your facility.

Our manufacturing facility in Chino, CA can provide prototype and quick turn, along with sustaining production for your custom cable and harness needs. We have state of the art wire termination equipment and IPC certified operators that help bring your product to life.
