ESA Announces EasyPower Version 4.0 With PowerProtector

New Software is first to include power system analysis with integrated device coordination capability

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- PORTLAND, Oregon, Monday, October 08, 2001/ESA/ -- ESA (Electrical Systems Analysis, Inc.) has announced that a new version of its industry-leading power systems analysis software, EasyPower, is now available. The company says that the software will "forever change the way that power and electrical system designers work and that it will revolutionize the industry."

EasyPower 4.0 includes significant enhancements to the core EasyPower platform, and an exciting and new major component called PowerProtector. PowerProtector is ESA's name for electrical device coordination integrated with EasyPower's electrical one-line interface and engine.

EasyPower 4.0 with PowerProtector allows power systems engineers to quickly size relays, breakers, transformers, cables and fuses in electrical power system designs, using "click and drag" time-current curves and a comprehensive, user-definable device database. The EasyPower graphical one-line displays fault currents, remote currents and voltages. Time current curves are displayed simultaneously in a second window. The software provides instant recognition that the system is properly designed and protected. Previous device coordination software and design techniques required designers to spend up to two hours per design and potentially many design iterations. EasyPower reduces the time required to complete a similar design to minutes and changes are instantaneous.

ESA President, Chet Davis, said, "EasyPower 4.0 will change the way that power system designers work. The integration of complete and fast coordination capabilities and powerful one-line software is the result of years of software development by power systems specialists. The result is increased value to our customers, higher quality designs and better utilization of their engineering resources."

About EasyPower 4.0
ESA's vision for EasyPower 4.0 and EasyPower 4.0 with PowerProtector is to provide customers with sophisticated and easy-to-use software that gives them ongoing competitive advantages, as power system analysis requirements change and as new applications become available.

EasyPower 4.0 and EasyPower 4.0 with PowerProtector have many new benefits, including:

- Onscreen display of integrated one-line and time-current curve
plots for fast device selection and testing.
- Click and drag curves to coordinate.
- New and improved symbol libraries.
- Comprehensive, integrated user-definable device database for
cutting-edge designs.
- Enhanced graphical movement with labeling and auto-resizing.
- Increased "connect and disconnect" capability to provide
better, faster design feedback.
