Power Amplifier Modules include S- and C-band versions.

Press Release Summary:

Based on Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, NuPower™ S- and C-band PA modules come in ruggedized packages and exhibit typical efficiencies from 20%–40%. Solid-state PAs accept nominal 0 dBm input and deliver at least 15 W of saturated power across 2,500–6,000 MHz. With 3.15 in.³ form factor, modules suit restrictions of size, weight, and power-constrained applications, such as tactical communications and telemetry for unmanned systems.

NuWaves Engineering Showcases New Power Amplifier Modules at International Microwave Symposium 2013

NuPower(TM) S- & C-Band Power Amplifier to be Demonstrated

Seattle, Washington – NuWaves Engineering of Middletown, Ohio, an international Radio Frequency (RF) and Embedded Systems solutions provider, is exhibiting its highperformance, miniaturized RF products and is also introducing and demonstrating the latest product entry to the NuPower(TM) product line of small, lightweight, and power-efficient RF power amplifier (PA) modules – an S- & C-band PA – at the 2013 International Microwave Symposium (IMS) hosted by IEEE’s Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S).

The NuPower(TM) S- & C-Band Power Amplifier joins a growing line of high-performance RF PA modules that cover VHF, UHF, L-band, S-band, and C-band frequencies in miniature and ruggedized packages as small as 1.3 cubic inches. The new solid-state power amplifier accepts a nominal 0 dBm input and delivers at least 15 watts of saturated power across 2500 MHz to 6000 MHz. Based on the latest Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, the NuPower(TM) S- & C-Band PA features typical efficiencies between 20% and 40%, making it the most power-efficient PA module available in its class. Furthermore, the PA’s diminutive 3.15 cubic-inch form factor makes it ideal for size, weight, and power-constrained applications, such as tactical communications and telemetry for unmanned systems. Finally, a bidirectional version of the PA featuring auto-sensing transmit / receive switching will also be made available in the exact same package as part of the recently announced NuPower Xtender(TM) series of advanced bidirectional power amplifiers.

“This new S- & C-Band PA is NuWaves’ most innovative product to date,” said Jeff Wells, President and CEO of NuWaves Engineering. “We are really pushing the boundaries of power per cubic inch and power efficiency, both of which are critical for today’s and tomorrow’s advanced communication systems.”

Stop by NuWaves Engineering’s booth, number 1612, at IMS 2013, in the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle, WA from 4-6 June to see the latest in RF communications technology.
