Power Adhesives Introduces New Hot Melt Adhesives for Sand COres that Bond More Efficiently at CastExpo 2010

CHARLOTTE. N. C. -- Power Adhesives introduced a series of new hot melt adhesive formulations, including a new Lost Foam adhesive, at CastExpo 2010.

Ideal for use where sand cores are fixed together and assembled, Power Adhesives' hot melt adhesives bond instantly and more efficiently without any wait time or use of solvents compared to other fixing systems such as water-based glues or screws. Other benefits include improved accuracy and productivity and a reduction of scrap.

Amont FOUNDRY TEC(TM) products introduced by Power Adhesives at CastExpo 2010 were the TEC(TM) 3200, TEC(TM) 6100 and TEC(TM) 810 glue guns.

*TEC(TM) 3200. Unrivaled in performance, reliability and adhesive output for a gun of this type, the all-electric TEC(TM) 3200 has a melt rate of up to 6.5 lbs/hour. Features include a plug-in temperature control that makes this product ideal for foundry processes with different temperature requirements. The new adhesive gun uses a 1¾- inch adhesive cartridge.

*TEC(TM) 6100. A fast, even and controllable melt rate of up to 9 lbs/hour
assures a fast, smooth molten glue flow and better control of the adhesive. The guns
twin stainless steel heaters with 500 Watts of power meet the most demanding foundry applications. Features include a fully enclosed heater housing with silicon rubber nozzle shroud for operator safety and a power-on warning indicator light for easy monitoring. A long life PTFE barrel is added for security and a special non-stick coated piston makes loading the gun easy and reduces problems associated with glue back up. The gun loads with a 1¾-inch adhesive cartridge.

*TEC(TM) 810-12. This heavy-duty mid-range glue gun has a melt rate up to 4.5 lbs/hour and a fast warm up time of 2 minutes. Unique features include a narrow profile handle with soft feel grip, a hand lever trigger and a very efficient heater housing.
Easy to use, the gun sets a new standard in performance for a gun of this size. The gun loads with a ½-inch adhesive cartridge.
Easy to Use

According to Power Adhesives, its line can be used for both cold and hot processes in sand foundries. Use on cold processes such as 'Coldbox, Alpha Set and
Beta Self," allow immediate assembly whereas use on hot processes such as 'Hotbox, Warm Box and Shelf require a cool off period before being assembled.

Easy to use, the FOUNDRY TEC(TM) glue guns connect to an electrical supply.
The adhesive from the cartridge melts inside the gun chamber and once melted can be extruded directly onto the sand core.

"It may seem strange that hot melts can be used for sand cores where temperatures reach up to 2552oF." noted Lee Stegall of Power Adhesives. "But, the insulation properties of the core maintain the integrity of the sand core long enough for the metal to correctly solidify."

The TEC(TM) hot melt glue adhesives comply with worldwide industrial and safety standards and are available along with spare parts and accessories through
strategically-located distributors in the U.S., Canada and worldwide.
