Positive Test Results for MTS Sensors' Level Plus® Fieldbus Transmitter

CARY, NC.-(March 26, 2008) - MTS Systems Corp., Sensors Division has developed a Foundation Fieldbus output for its Level Plus® line of liquid level transmitters. Testing of the new interface, which has been ongoing, has met or surpassed expectations.

"The addition of the Foundation Fieldbus output will expand the Level Plus product line and bolster MTS' position as the innovator and world leader in magnetostrictive based sensors," said Lee Aiken, product marketing manager, MTS Sensors. "We are confident that our product and its performance level, verified by our rigorous internal testing combined with beta field testing and the hazardous approval process, is not just another sensor but a performance-leading magnetostrictive liquid level transmitter."

The Foundation Fieldbus output that is now completing final testing and is expected to begin production at the beginning of the summer will be available on MTS' Model MG digital transmitter.

Foundation Fieldbus technology is the world's leading digital protocol for process automation, which provides end users with the freedom to choose interoperable control products from their suppliers of choice, as well as the ability to integrate control systems, subsystems and devices across a plant enterprise. The protocol will make MTS'
magnetostrictive sensors compatible with an even wider variety of control systems, expanding the company's offerings to even more customers with sanitary and/or hazardous environment applications.

"Now customers will have the simplicity and reliability of a magnetostrictive level transmitter with superior accuracy and the 3-in-1 measurement of product, interface, and temperature from MTS," said Aiken.

The Model MG transmitters provide 3-in-1 measurements of the product level, interface level, and temperature along with offering volume outputs from 100-point strap tables. The sensor has earned a reputation for high accuracy, reliability, simple installation and field replacement. Every gauge is custom-built for the application and is available in lengths from 508 mm (20 in.) to
18,288 mm (720 in.). MTS provides additional interfaces of analog (4 to 20 mA), Modbus, and DDA along with Foundation Fieldbus.

MTS Sensors, a division of MTS Systems Corp., is the global leader in the development and production of magnetostrictive linear-position and liquid-level sensors. Based on MTS' patented Temposonics® technology, the Sensors Division is continually developing new ways to apply magnetostrictive sensing technology to solve critical applications in a variety of markets worldwide. With facilities in the U.S., Germany and Japan, MTS Sensors Division is an ISO 9001 certified supplier committed to providing innovative sensing solutions that deliver customers with reliable, cost effective sensing devices.
