NUTEC INTRODUCES THE SixShooter(TM) 6-AXIS POSITIONING SYSTEM

New precision, 6-axis, brushless servo based, positioning system is an ideal Fiber Optic Assembly solution for the Photonics Industry.

DEER PARK, NY - March 12, 2002...NUTEC introduces the SixShooter, a very compact, 6-axis, precision positioning system for Fiber Optic Assembly and similar applications in the Photonics Industry. The system consists of 3 dual-axis modules, including a patented vertical elevator stage; Y-axis with an integrated theta-Y, theta rotary axis; an integral compounded XZ horizontal dual axis stage; topped with a dual tilt phi-ZX Phi Tilt stage.

To achieve the greatest precision and dynamic performance, all axes are equipped with high performance direct drive, linear brushless servomotors, direct drive brushless rotary servomotors or rotary brushless servomotors. All axes feature linear or rotary, non-contacting, high-resolution, solid state encoders.
"Based on the industry applications we have seen, NUTEC felt a brushless servo based system would offer significant performance improvements over similar piezo based systems," stated Rene Schnetzler, President & CEO of NUTEC.

The SixShooter offers unique advantages and features. The servo drive allows high translation speeds and the digital servo control assures extremely short settling time. The high-resolution encoders ensure high accuracy and repeatability. The modularity creates a compact, flexible motion platform with a
very small footprint.

The SixShooter is controlled with NUTEC's industry proven, MICROMATIC-5, 6-axis, digital servo control for fast and precise moves predicated on a 80MHz CPU and 10MHz feedback loop frequency response. All axes can be programmed for coordinated motion with selectable coordinate axis system origin.

The SixShooter will be introduced at the OFC exposition in Anaheim CA, March 19-21, 2002, Hall C, booth #2891.
