Intrinsically Safe Position and Speed Sensing Systems Offered by BEI
Goleta - BEI's Industrial Encoder Division now provides a complete position and speed sensing system, which allows safe operation in hazardous areas where explosive potentials exist. These systems assure energy levels to optical encoder sensors are kept below the ignition point. They meet international CENELEC hazardous environmental ratings. Position and speed control is now available for certain explosive environments.
Installations consist of a select rotary encoder, cable assembly and an intrinsic safety barrier. When combined, these components are approved for Class 1, Division 1, Group C and D (EEx ia IIB T4 CENELEC) environments. These intrinsic safety rated systems are well-suited to providing precision position and speed measurement in hazardous environments such as well logging, chemical handling, paint spray operations, printing, and industrial processed involving flammable gasses and liquids.
