Duncan Electronics Introduces New Interface Solutions for Linear Position Sensors

TUSTIN, Calif. - September 30, 2003 - Duncan Electronics, a division of BEI Technologies, Inc., is introducing a new line of interface solutions for the 600 Series linear position sensors. The new features include a broad range of shaft mounts and mating connectors. The new interfaces allow designers to select the most appropriate combination of features to meet their application needs in stroke lengths from 1 to 12 inches. Duncan offers a broad range of mating connectors including: Deutch, Packard Weather Pack & Metri Pack, Mil. Spec. and Amphenol styles. For shaft mounting styles Duncan offers multiple spherical rod end bearings in addition to magnetic mounting
faces, "L" brackets, spring loaded shaft features and tapered tip styles. All of these shaft and connector features share the same external sensor body diameter of only .620 inches.

The 600 Series is typically required in applications requiring extremely high performance and reliability. Duncan has extensive experience in configuring the 600 Series for application in markets including; avionic control, medical equipment, commercial
aircraft, industrial molding equipment, oil refining and off highway (agriculture) applications. The device has a proven track record with precise linearity (up to +/- .08%) with 10 million mechanical cycles and over 1 billion dither cycles. The sensor can withstand temperatures extremes from -55°C to 125°C with continuous operation with repeatability within .0005 inches.

Expanding the product line to offer these common interfaces is targeted at simplifying the design engineer's time in sensor selection. By simply specifying the unique connector and shaft style, Duncan can quickly configure a custom solution. In addition to these new features Duncan has maintained the flexibility to offer a dual output in this device along with custom stroke length versions.

The performance features coupled with the flexibility of design allow it to be easily integrated into a wide variety of existing and new applications. Pricing starts at under $90.00 each in 250 piece quantities.
