Low Voltage 5 V DC Hermetically Sealed Position Sensors

Ideal for Position Sensing in Agricultural and Construction Equipment

Pennsauken, NJ, August 1, 2008... Macro Sensors has expanded its LP 750 Series Hermetically Sealed Frictionless Position Sensors - designed as long life potentiometer replacements - with a line of low voltage 5V DC units for hydraulic cylinder and valve position sensing within off-road vehicles, farm equipment and construction equipment including cranes and forklifts. The low voltage, power regulation 5V DC input works with micro-controlled based systems and allows the signal processing electronics to be located remotely in hostile applications such as high temperature, vibration, shock and radiation. Units offer an output range of 0.5 to 4.5 V DC.

Serving as potentiometer replacement sensors, the LP750 Series Hermetically Sealed Frictionless Position Sensors have no parts that wear out, offering infinite cycle life for greater performance and reliability than a potentiometer. Because they are constructed entirely of stainless steel and hermetically sealed against hostile environments to IEC standard IP-68, units can operate in harsh and corrosive environments unlike potentiometers.

LP 750 Series Hermetically Sealed Frictionless Position Sensors also offer a favorable ratio of a short sensor body length to sensor range, making them ideal for long stroke applications where sensor length needs to be essentially the same length as the stroke of the device. A compact design is made possible by a unique coil winding configuration and digitally enhanced analog output. The significant stroke to length advantage, compact size and environmental robustness of the LP 750 Series Hermetically Sealed Frictionless Position Sensors enable their use in cylinders implemented in hydraulic rams such as those found in construction equipment.

Macro Sensors' LP 750 Position Series sensors are available in standard ranges of 3.75 (95 mm) to 24" (600 mm) and are offered in three outputs including the new 5 VD DC input with 0.5 to 4.5V DC output (LPVR Series), a pre-calibrated, loop-powered 4-20 input/output (LPIR Series) or a nominal 24V DC input 0 to 10 V DC output (LPER Series). A one meter length will be available soon. The sensors also provide high resolution, excellent repeatability and low hysteresis.
