Position Sensor features 225 mm linear configuration.

Press Release Summary:

Featuring non-contact design that eliminates mechanical failure mechanisms and minimizes wear, SMART Position Sensor senses position of magnet relative to sensor from 0-225 mm. Unit provides analog or digital output for use in control systems requiring RS232-type interface with 57.6 Kbit/s baud rate. Device accurately measures values down to 0.0055 in. analog and 0.000137 in. digital. Featuring sealed design, sensor is resistant to vibration, shock, and extreme temperatures.

Honeywell Adds New 225 mm Linear Configuration to Its Smart Position Sensor Portfolio

One of the Most Durable, Adaptable, and Lightweight Linear Position Sensors Available in the Industry Today

MINNEAPOLIS, - Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today introduced the SMART Position Sensor 225 mm Linear Configuration, its second non-contacting linear position device that joins the SMART Position Sensor 75 mm Linear Configuration introduced in December 2009. The 225 mm SMART Position Sensor senses the position of a magnet relative to a sensor from 0 mm to 225 mm [0 in to 8.86 in].

Honeywell's SMART ( Superior Measurement, Accurate, Reliable, Thinking) Position Sensor is one of the most durable, adaptable, and lightweight linear position devices available in the industry today. Its simple, non-contact design eliminates mechanical failure mechanisms, reduces wear and tear, improves reliability and durability, enhances operational efficiency and safety, and minimizes downtime.

The SMART Position Sensor 225 mm Linear Configuration's two output options include analog or digital for use in control systems requiring an RS232-type interface with a 57.6 kbits/s baud rate. The device accurately measures values down to 0,14 mm [0.0055 in] analog and 0,0035 mm [0.000137 in] digital.

The SMART Position Sensor's adaptable, non-contacting design allows customers to eliminate unnecessary connections for installation, thereby reducing installation time and components. The device installs in four easy steps versus up to 14 steps some competitive products require, simplifying installation and reducing costs.

The SMART Position Sensor's air gap of up to 3,0 ± 2,5 mm [0.118 ± 0.098 in] between the sensor and the magnet and a variety of output options (analog standard, other RS232-type baud rates) expand application opportunities.

As there are no moving parts within the sensing element, Honeywell seals the sensor, making it resistant to vibration, shock, and extreme temperatures.

The SMART Position Sensor 225 mm Linear Configuration may potentially be used in the following applications:

o Industrial applications such as valve position, material handling, plastic molding, cutting and slitting, wafer handling, and CNC machines.

o Transportation applications such as passenger bus level position, truck-mounted crane outrigger position, heavy equipment attachment identification, hydraulic cylinders, and marine motors.

o Medical applications such as syringe pumps.

o Aerospace and defense applications such as aircraft actuators.
