Position Control Sensors feature ASCII serial protocol.

Press Release Summary:

Temposonics® S Series ServoSensors combine sensor and embedded closed-loop position controller. ASCII protocol and Windows(TM) application setup software enable use of common translator software. Model SH rod style sensors are designed for internal mounting where high pressure conditions exist (5,000 psi continuous/10,000 psi spike). Model SP profile sensors are magnet-mounted and are used in space-restrictive applications.

MTS Sensors Introduces The New Temposonics(R) ASCII Protocol ServoSensor(TM)

Closed-loop position control sensor features new ASCII serial protocol.

CARY, NC (December 14, 2001) - Providing control engineers with an enhanced interface to Allen Bradley and Automation Direct PLC platforms, MTS Sensors Division, and partners Paw-Taw-John Services, introduce the Temposonics® S Series ASCII protocol position control sensor. The ServoSensor features a high performance sensor and embedded closed-loop position controller in the same standard sensor envelope. The sensor ASCII protocol and enhanced Windows(TM) application setup software enable the use of common translator software suitable for the Automation Direct 205 and Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC platforms (integration of additional platforms currently under development).

The Temposonics Model SH rod style sensors are designed for internal mounting in applications where high-pressure conditions exist (5,000 psi continuous/ 10,000 psi spike) such as hydraulic cylinders. Mounted externally, the Model SH sensors offer users
the ability to replace the electronic head and sensor cartridge in the field quickly and easily.

The Temposonics Model SP profile style sensors offer two different magnet-mounting configurations: captive sliding magnet or floating magnet. SP Series sensors are designed for space-restrictive applications and environments where there are high levels of dust and contamination. In addition, SP sensors can be externally mounted on machines and configured with a variety of connector options.
