Comet L3D - the New Blue Light 3D Scanning System from Steinbichler Optotechnik

COMPACT, PORTABLE AND ACCURATE - THE PERFECT, AFFORDABLE SOLUTION FOR HIGH-PRECISION 3D-DIGITIZING

Steinbichler Optotechnik GmbH of Neubeuern, a worldwide leading supplier of optical measuring and sensor technology, presents COMET L3D its new blue light 3D scanning system. The new COMET L3D represents a solution for high-precision 3D digitizing. The combination of blue light technology coupled with high accuracy, quick acquisition and portability makes the Comet L3D an ideal candidate in the high resolution scanning market.

"With this ultra-portable and easy to handle COMET L3D, we are now able to offer our customers, in addition to our high-end solution COMET, a high-precision 3D digitizing system for a reliable quality assurance in the midrange price segment," says Hans Weigert, Director Sales and Marketing at Steinbichler Optotechnik GmbH.

Based on the proven COMET-technology, the new COMET L3D is characterized by its reliable electronic and high quality of industrial optics. Equipped with a 2 mega pixel camera, the COMET L3D has a fixed triangulation basis, which can be used with pre-adjusted lenses. Thanks to the pre-defined position of lens and camera, the projection lenses can be changed very quickly and easily, thus the necessary field of measurement can be adapted according to the requirements in less than 5 minutes.

Usability and one-man operation capability was one of the main targets in designing the L3D. Therefore the L3D Sensor comes in an ergonomic weight optimized, rugged transport box. The standard thread allows the usage of commercial video tripods and heads.

"It was our goal to develop an extremely precise affordable easy to handle entry system that can be used exactly in all the applications where tactile measurement is at it's limits, for example measuring fragile plastic parts or parts with lots of different features," says Hans Weigert. The main application for the L3D is quality control but also for 3D-Digitizing for reverse engineering in plastics and metal industries. The comet L3D has generated also a lot of interest from the industry and governments for the arts and heritage applications.
