Sunrise Telecom® Offers Small, Lightweight FTT(TM) -1000 OTDR to Deliver High Performance Fiber Fault Analysis to Field Technicians

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 23 -- Sunrise Telecom(R) Incorporated (Pink Sheets: SRTI), a leader in test and measurement solutions for today's telecom, wireless and cable networks, announced the FTT(TM)-1000 Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR). The FTT-1000, one of the smallest and lightest units in its class, is ideally suited for installation and troubleshooting/maintenance of access, metro, and long haul networks, providing excellent dynamic range that can measure >200 km of fiber length and small dead zones. With a battery life of more than eight continuous hours on a single charge, technicians can test fiber optic cables without interruption in virtually any environment.

"Designed specifically for field use, the FTT-1000 comes standard with a high brightness outdoor display and touch screen and rugged, weather resistant housing," commented Sunrise Telecom's Business Development Manager of Optical Products Group David Chan, Ph.D. "Its advanced features and compact, high performance design save time and reduce errors while technicians perform tasks critical to characterizing fiber networks."

The FTT-1000 troubleshoots events that can degrade quality by pinpointing faults on long haul, metro and access fiber links. The FTT-1000 includes noise filtering, 4pt least square approximation (LSA) for splice loss measurement, automatic and manual mode configuration, and standard Bellcore GR-196 format for storage. The test system is available in two and three wavelengths, each with high dynamic range and small event and attenuation dead zones, ensuring customers can select the best solution for their specific application.

The FTT-1000's rugged, splash-proof design provides added protection against mechanical shock often encountered in field use. Its bright, color LCD touch screen and intuitive navigation make it straightforward to configure and operate for technicians of various skill sets, from beginner to expert. The FTT-1000 features a WinCE(TM) operating system and includes USB and 10Base-T ports for data transfer, as well as PCMCIA and CF slots for additional storage memory.

Availability

The FTT-1000 is available immediately in two models, the FTT-1002 and FTT-1003 with 1310/1550 nm and 1310/1550/1625 nm wavelengths respectively. For sales information, contact the company at info@sunrisetelecom.com or 408.363.8000.
