Agilent Technologies Introduces Economical, Portable Oscilloscopes with Rich Feature Set

Six New Models Offer More Signal Viewing and More Capabilities for Higher Productivity

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 4, 2009 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today expanded its digital-storage oscilloscope (DSO) portfolio with six new models that comprise its next-generation 1000 Series. These new scopes offer bandwidths between 60 MHz and 200 MHz and deliver features normally found on more expensive scopes. The oscilloscopes are available with two or four channels, and each comes in a package that is just 5 inches deep and weighs less than 7 pounds.

Starting at $1,200, the Agilent DSO1000A Series oscilloscopes are packed with measurement capability to handle a broad range of debugging and test needs. Agilent 1000 Series oscilloscopes are designed to give engineers more scope than they think they can afford. Benefits of the Agilent 1000 Series oscilloscopes include:

  • More signal viewing: All 1000 Series models are equipped with a bright LCD display that offers a sharper image and is visible from a much wider viewing angle than competitive scopes. And with up to 20 kpts of memory per channel, the 1000 Series allows engineers to use the full sample rate of the scope up to 8x longer than other scopes in its class.

  • More capabilities: All 1000 Series oscilloscopes can display 23 automatic measurements - up to 21 simultaneously - including measurements from a built-in six-digit counter. They are also the only name-brand economy scopes with sequence mode capability to help find elusive problems. Engineers can record and replay up to 1,000 occurrences of a trigger for easy identification of glitches and other anomalies. Agilent's 1000 Series even offers a suite of DSP filters to help users focus on the most relevant spectral content of signals.

  • More productivity: The 1000 Series comes standard with go/no-go mask testing capability, which allows even inexperienced oscilloscope users to perform precise parametric tests. The user interface and front-panel labels are available in 11 languages to support worldwide teams. USB connections and IntuiLink connectivity software, which are standard features, make it easy to share and document measurement results. An optional training kit helps both educators and production managers teach essential oscilloscope skills in less than two hours.

"Agilent has been the fastest-growing scope vendor since 1997," said Scott Sampl, vice president and general manager of Agilent's oscilloscopes business. "We've been making systematic investments to deliver value to our customers - regardless of their budgets. The new 1000 Series oscilloscopes offer many of the capabilities we include in our higher-performance scopes at affordable prices."

Design and test teams in nearly every electronic industry - including computer, communications, semiconductor, aerospace/defense, automotive and wireless industries - use oscilloscopes as a primary tool for test and debug. Educational institutions also rely on oscilloscopes to teach the next generation of engineers and technicians.
