Portable Octave Analyzer processes noise and vibration data.

Press Release Summary:

Pimento Rev 4.30 works in acoustical, structural, and rotating machinery testing. It is available with 4 to 24 channels of 24 bit inputs, supports real-time ANSI octave analyzer, and is equipped with pre-amplifier, analog high-pass filter, and polarization voltage supply. Onboard DSP calculates real-time octave bands up to 20 kHz bandwidth on 4 channels simultaneously, and records at sustained rate of 1 Megasample/sec for up to 3 hr.

LMS Releases Pimento Rev 4.30 Multi-Channel Analyzer Now Deliverable As Portable Octave Analyzer

LMS International released Rev 4.30 of LMS Pimento, its multi-channel Noise and Vibration analyzer. Pimento is a mobile analyzer and packs 4 to 24 channels each with a 24-bit input system in a robust unit just a few centimeters high and with the same footprint as a laptop PC. The new release of Pimento enhances both its online measurement and offline processing capabilities, particularly for rotating machinery testing, acoustics and structural testing. Pimento is ideal for the user who simply wants to pull an analyzer off the shelf, switch it on, start measuring, and quickly produce a report.

Pimento Rev 4.30 supports a real-time ANSI octave analyzer and a new 4-channel microphone input module. The Pimento hardware is equipped with a pre-amplifier, an analog high-pass filter and a polarization voltage supply, and delivers an outstanding 115 dB SFDR (spurious free dynamic range) . An onboard DSP provides the necessary processing power to calculate real-time octave bands up to 20 kHz bandwidth to ANSI standards on all 4 channels simultaneously. Pimento Rev 4.30 also provides a real-time order tracking analyzer. The latter enables accurate order measurements to be made even for rapidly accelerating shafts.

Pimento is not only a powerful real-time analyzer, but it also offers an attractive alternative to classical DAT recorders, which were until recently the only solution to record multi-channel signals in the field. With Pimento Rev 4.30, it is possible to record at a sustained rate of 1Megasample/sec. This means that users can record, for example, at a full acoustic bandwidth on 16 channels for 2 to 3 hours - and simultaneously record 8 lower frequency vibration channels and/or tacho signals. Unlike the DAT, the Pimento gives full 24-bit performance, full conditioning, and the data are already 'in place' on the laptop. Pimento has all the data analysis capability on-board, so the user can check the readings and validate the data before returning to base.

LMS Pimento applications range from general-purpose data acquisition and DSP, to specific modules for acoustics, structural testing, and rotating machinery analysis. Pimento includes a powerful command processor that lets you setup and perform measurement sequencing, to automatically perform sophisticated operations on the data, and then run a batch report. It is an easy and foolproof way to get consistent repetitive measurements - especially in the field where things can get forgotten in all the rush.

The LMS Pimento body is made from 3-ply high strength steel and damping material to provide a lightweight yet rugged framework. Special components were chosen to reduce power consumption to a mere 1.25W per channel, while heat pipes and cooling fins eliminate the need for a fan - and its associated noise. Pimento is modular, and digital calibration means modules can be swapped with other Pimentos without needing re-calibration.
