Original Press Release:
Millermatic® 211 Auto-Set(TM) with MVP(TM) All-in-One MIG Welder Combines Power, Portability and Easy Set-up
Miller's Millermatic® 211 Auto-Set(TM) with MVP(TM) packs a class-leading 3/8-in.-thick welding capacity into a highly portable case. Featuring Auto-Set(TM) to eliminate the need to set voltage and wire feed speed, and MVP (Multi-Voltage Plug) for quick and tool-less change over between 120 and 230 V input power, this unit is ideal for welding in maintenance, farm, home, hobbyist and personal-use applications.
o Can weld up to 3/8-in. mild steel on 230 V input power ¾ the leader in its class.
o Auto-Set eliminates the need to set parameters. Simply dial in the welding wire diameter and metal thickness.
o Multi-Voltage Plug allows the user to switch quickly and easily between 120 and 230 V. No tools required.
APPLETON, Wis., February 2, 2009-The new Millermatic® 211 Auto-Set(TM) with MVP(TM) all-in-one MIG welder packs the highest output in its class into a highly portable case, the same size as Miller's popular Millermatic® 140 and Millermatic® 180 welders. Capable of welding up to 3/8-in. mild steel in a single pass, the new unit features Miller's patented Auto-Set(TM) technology. With Auto-Set, the user sets the welding wire diameter and dials in the metal thickness and the unit sets optimal voltage and wire-feed, eliminating the need to manually set parameters. Miller's exclusive Multi-Voltage Plug (MVP) allows the user to quickly switch between 120 V and 230 V without the use of tools. The Millermatic 211 Auto-Set with MVP all-in-one MIG welder is an exceptional choice for the home hobbyist, farm, maintenance and personal user.
"Auto-Set takes the guesswork out of weld set-up by enabling users to simply set wire diameter [.030/.035 steel] and material thickness. Auto-Set automatically selects the optimal voltage and wire feed speed," says Jon Ertmer, product manager, Miller Electric Mfg. Co. "Auto-Set gives home hobbyists and occasional welders confidence that their welding parameters are properly set. A manual mode feature also allows users to manually set wire feed speed and infinite voltage for wider applications."
Miller's customer research indicated that many users liked flexibility in choice of input power, so the Millermatic 211 Auto-Set with MVP is equipped with Miller's patented Multi-voltage plug or MVP. MVP allows operators to connect 120 V or 230 V primary power receptacles without the use of any tools - users simply choose the plug that fits the receptacle and connect it to the power cord.
"Customers said they were looking for a high output machine in a small case," Ertmer notes. "This new Millermatic welder is a true 210 amp machine with a rated output of 150 amps, 30% duty cycle, which makes it the most powerful personal-use machine available. It can weld from 24 gauge to 3/8-in. mild steel in a single pass using 230 V input power."
While the Millermatic 211 Auto-Set with MVP comes complete with a 10 ft. M-10 MIG gun and cable assembly, home hobbyists will appreciate the option to use the Spoolmate 100 Series Spool gun for aluminum MIG applications (18 gauge to 3/8-in.). Notably, the new Millermatic machine does not require operators to install a switch to the welder before use of a spool gun - the Millermatic 211 Auto-Set with MVP is spool gun ready right out of the box.
Reinforcing the portability of the new all-in-one MIG welder, the Millermatic 211 Auto-Set with MVP is compatible with Bobcat(TM) generators.
For smooth, spatter-free starts, the welder also features Miller's patented Smooth-Start(TM) technology, eliminating "pop gun" starts and reducing to need to clean up spatter.
