Coherent Expands FieldMax Laser Meter Family

Santa Clara, Calif., March 23, 2004 - Coherent Molectron (Portland, OR) introduces FieldMax(TM)-TO and FieldMax(TM)-P, the latest additions to its FieldMax general-purpose, portable laser meter family.

The new FieldMax products are easy-to-use and portable, making them ideal for field-service and production test applications. FieldMax-P is designed for use with a pyroelectric sensor for energy readings ranging from nJ to J at repetition rates up to 300 Hz. FieldMax-TO is a versatile, economical power meter that works with thermopile or optical sensors for measurements ranging from nW to kW.

"Our new FieldMax-TO and FieldMax-P meters allow customers, who don't need the full-feature set of our FieldMax-TOP laser power and energy meter, to enter the product line at a lower price point," said Sean Bergman, product manager for Coherent's Power and Energy products. "Users can now choose an instrument that provides the measurement capability they need, and still take advantage of features such as a high-contrast, backlit display and an easy-to-use, direct button-driven interface."

To facilitate laser tuning, all FieldMax meters feature a new laser tuning method that is both fast and responsive, along with a statistical display that shows mean, min, max, and standard deviation. FieldMax products feature smart-sensor compatibility in which information such as sensor calibration, wavelength correction and serial number are automatically loaded into the meter. The meters also include a convenient USB computer interface, Labview drivers and applications software.

FieldMax meters measure just 8 x 4 x 1.5 inches and weigh approximately 18 ounces, including six 1.5V alkaline batteries. They feature a low-battery indicator and can be powered by a 12-VDC wall-plug adapter.
