Portable Meter measures insulation resistance.

Press Release Summary:

Handheld, battery operated IR800 checks insulation resistance of wiring, communication cables, motors, appliances, and electronic products and controls. It measures resistance up to 2000 Mohms at ac and dc voltages of 250, 500 and 1,000V. Zero offset adjustment provides automatic removal of lead resistance. Unit has rotary switch for selection of test type, large test button to initiate measurement, and backlighting for poor lighting conditions.

Quadtech Unveils New Handheld Insulation Resistance Meter

Maynard, MA -QuadTech, Inc., formerly GenRad Instruments, announced today that it has expanded its popular line of benchtop insulation resistance testers with the introduction of the IR800 portable tester. The IR800 is a handheld, battery operated meter manufactured in conjunction with strategic partner, Seaward Electronic Ltd. The meter's broad set of features and extensive functionality make it the most comprehensive unit on the market in its price range.

"QuadTech's line of benchtop instruments for insulation resistance test applications have long been acknowledged as superior by the industry," said Phil Harris, CEO of QuadTech. "With the increased requirement for portable field test devices, it seems only natural for QuadTech to offer a handheld with the latest in operating features."

The versatile IR800 adapts to a wide variety of applications in field installations, preventive maintenance and diagnostic testing, for checking insulation resistance of wiring, communication cables, motors, appliances and a host of other electronic products and controls. It offers the capability of resistance and continuity, as well as AC and DC voltage measurements, in a durable case which includes both digital and analog displays. This rugged handheld unit, provides accurate insulation resistance measurements up to 2000 Mohms at test voltages of 250, 500 and 1 OOOV, and low resistance measurements below 2000 ohms. Voltage measurements (AC or DC) are possible up to 1000 V. A zero offset adjustment provides automatic removal of lead resistance for optimum accuracy at low resistance. Incorporating all these functions into an easy-to-use, compact unit, eliminates the need to carry multiple instruments in the field.

The IR800 offers user friendly operating features such as a rotary switch for selection of test type, large test button to initiate the measurement and backlighting for a clear indication of results in poor lighting conditions. The unit is fully compliant with IEC and EN safety standards and includes a number of important safety features, such as audible and visual warning when high voltage is applied, an automatic shutdown feature, and includes test leads with insulated alligator clips and probes.

Available now, the IR800 is priced at $395 and can be purchased direct from the QuadTech website (www.quadtech.com).
