Original Press Release:

New Ergonomic SPY® Portable Holiday Detector

Houston TX- Pipeline Inspection Company recently released two new generation portable holiday detector models. The manufacturer states the new SPY® Models 780 and 790 were designed with the operator in mind. They feature a new topside handle and a more ergonomic pistol grip for more comfortable and easier maneuvering down the pipeline. A built in jeep meter on the new SPY 780 and 790 minimize set up and allow operators to quickly and accurately inspect pipe coatings on two to sixty inch pipe diameters. Both new holiday detectors are equipped with a more audible alarm for operations where heavy equipment may impair hearing and a visible positive ground indicator light to ensure reliable operation.

Like the SPY® Models 715, 725 and 735 portable holiday detectors, this new ergonomic design is also lightweight, self-contained and employs the same proven circuitry. To test the integrity of thin film coatings, Model 780 provides infinite voltage settings over the 1000 to 5000 volt range. With its 5000 to 35,000 volt range, the Model 790 inspects a wider range of coatings including most coal tars, extruded and tape coatings as well as extra thick and somastic coatings. Both of these new portable detectors feature infinite voltage settings to allow specific sensitivity adjustments on the fly. Each system is packaged in a durable molded carrying case that includes two 8 hours batteries, a charger, detector, electrode wand, and ground cable. For more details contact:
