Scott Instruments Launches Scout(R) Portable MultiGas Detector

Scott Instruments, a division of Tyco International's Scott Technologies, has launched the newest product addition to its line of portable gas monitors. The SCOUT AE Multigas Personal Monitor represents a completely new design concept and, says Neil Doveala, Scott Instruments Director of Sales & Marketing, "The interest levels we are generating from this product have been enormous! We've really taken our time and built a genuine, user-defined portable gas detector that any level of user can operate"

Scout's space-aged unique ergonomic design is specifically designed to act as an engineered housing that optimizes its speed of response to a hazardous gas. With no internal tubing, a wind-tested sensor port, and acoustic resonance chamber, Scout is unlike any other gas detector available.

Of Scout's innovative design features, its ABM(TM) (Advanced Battery Management) Technology will truly impact how users can operate a multi-gas portable instrument. With ABM, Scout can operate for over 50 hours on a single charge - the twice the run-time as virtually every other comparable instrument available.

Scout's fool-proof Intellishutter(TM) system works in concert with the operator to permit "on-the-fly" changes from diffusion to sample draw modes with the simple push. In addition, IntelliShutter(TM) automatically detects its position so that an operator alerted to a partially open shutter, prevented from connecting a sample probe while in the wrong operating mode.

Other features that significantly enhance SCOUT's ability to perform in most any application include:

a "no case openings design". With no electrical plug-in connection of any type, SCOUT's body becomes a high integrity system for ensuring moisture cannot penetrate its parts and components.

An easy to use, modular platform, the SCOUT can be configured for any level of user and stores up to 100 customized profiles for work teams. Complete component modularity means SCOUT can be upgraded to any level of sophistication or serviced in-the-field without specials tools or complex procedures.
