Portable Digital Multimeter Provides Safe, Convenient Testing of Bonding/Grounding in Hazardous Atmospheres

A new user-friendly portable multimeter from Newson Gale Inc. is designed for use in applications involving combustible or explosive atmospheres. The new Model ISDMM multimeter provides convenient, accurate confirmation of a low-resistance path to verified ground points, as well as confirming the integrity of existing bonding/grounding conductors.

The Model ISDMM also provides readings of DC voltage and amperage, capacitance, frequency, temperature, duty cycle, pulse width and an event counter. It is equally well-adapted to use with permanently bonded equipment or temporary devices such as grounding clamps, cables and reels. It may also be used to ensure the grounding of conductive or semi-conductive hose assembles used for transfer of flammable or combustible products where it is important to achieve continuity over the complete hose length, including fittings.

Especially easy -to-use, desired readings are selected on a rotary switch and appropriate test probes or clips are attached to the equipment or conductor to be tested. The ISDMM meter then auto-senses and displays the measurement value clearly on an LCD display, either digital or a 34-segment bargraph. The unit comes complete with a 300-hour alkaline battery and rugged carrying case. Options include a hand-rewind 30-meter extension reel and heavy-duty crocodile test clips.

The ISDMM meter is approved according to IECEX and ATEX hazardous area standards and is suitable for used in flammable gas/vapor and combustible dust atmospheres. It can be used in outdoor locations, is water and dust tight to IP67 and NEMA 6 standards and has a maximum operating temperature rating of 50°C (122°F). Dimensions are 189 x 82 x 40 mm. (7.4 x 3.23 x 1.57-In.)
