NextComputing Announces NextDimension Evo and NextDimension Evo HD, the Newest Additions to Its Line of Flextop Portable Computers



NASHUA, N.H. - January 16, 2007 - NextComputing announced today two new additions to its NextDimension family of flextop computers, the NextDimension Evo and NextDimension Evo HD. The company originated the flextop class of computers, the term first emerging about a year ago when NextComputing released its ground-breaking computer, the NextDimension.

The NextDimension Evo and Evo HD both retain "flextop features," like open-standards architecture, flexible I/O options, upgradeability, high performance processing, and extreme graphics capabilities. The Evo models significantly increase open standards I/O options, maximizing the flexibility to customize for specific applications, such as those that are graphically intensive and/or require both high-end graphics and video.

The Evo is intended for use as a workstation and/or server in simply the smallest form-factor available. The Evo maximizes precious work space for the engineer, developer, or designer who requires intensive processing performance and expanded open-standards I/O options.

The Evo HD features an integrated hi-definition display. This all-in-one box solution is an ideal platform for a number of portable applications, such as intensive graphical application demonstrations and remote digital recording/editing.

Basic specifications of both NextDimension Evo models reflect the company's original intent to provide a small form factor computing powerhouse. Features include: (1) or (2) single- or dual-core AMD OpteronT processors with Direct Connect Architecture, up to 16GB DDRAM, (3) Gigabit Ethernet ports, up to (2) quick-time removable HDDs totaling 320GB, and support for all major 32- and 64-bit environments. The dimensions of the Evo and Evo HD are impressively small at 5.69"D x 11.44"H x 16.8"W.

With 3 PCI Express x16 or PCI-X slots, up to (3) independent storage options that can be used in any combination of quick-time removable drives, and NextPak mass storage disk option allowing storage configurations up to 800GB, the NextDimension Evo and Evo HD provide the greatest number of I/O configurations available in a form-factor smaller than a tower desktop workstation. Additionally, the Evo and Evo HD support NextComputing's clip-on portable, hi-def, flat panel monitor.
