Original Press Release:

FlexTop computer incorporates Nvidia Quadro FX 3500 card

On June 1, 2006, NextComputing of Nashua, NH announced the addition of the NVIDIA Quadro® FX 3500 high end graphics card to its categorically new portable, FlexTop computer, the NextDimension. View specifications of the NextDimension at www.nextcomputing.com/products/nextdim.htm.

NextComputing proudly coined the term "FlexTop" as a portable, high-performance computer with high-end computing and graphics capabilities and the ability to serve as a high-end workstation, a mobile server platform, and/or a hardware appliance. NextComputing's NextDimension was the first FlexTop computer introduced to market.

"The addition of NVIDIA's 3500 card to the NextDimension product line opens up new possibilities for graphics engineers and developers requiring high end 3D graphics for rendering, imaging, animation, etc... The small, briefcase-sized FlexTop allows these groups to replace desktops with a smaller form factor, as well as to pack up the entire system and bring their work anywhere they need to have access," relates Bob Labadini, President and CTO of NextComputing.

NVIDIA's Quadro FX 3500 is comparable in performance to the company's much larger FX 4500 card. Populating a single slot, the 3500 provides users with outstanding graphics capabilities while still taking advantage of the small form factor of the NextDimension. Performance Specifications of the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500: 54 sgs-04, 71 proe-03, 42 sw-01, 44 3dsmax-03. The superior performance of this card further increases the graphical capabilities of the NextDimension so that it rivals any fixed tower graphics workstation.

Despite its small size, the NextDimension incorporates up to 16GB PC3200 DDRAM, single or dual removable and bootable 2.5" SATA hard disk drives to 40/60/80/100/120GB, internal RAID 0/1, 0+1, DVD/RW, up to (4) additional 2.5" or (2) additional 3.25" HDDs, and the ability to store up to 1TB of data internally in certain configurations. Multiple interconnect ports, (3) Gigabit Ethernet ports (4) USB 2.0 ports (2) external SATA ports are standard. A 15" or 17" integrated screen comes standard, and additional external monitors can be hooked up via KVM and a capable PCIe card. NextComputing's "cool and quiet" model is ideal for developers requiring external audio, along with 3D graphics performance, such as game developers.

Combining open standards architecture, small form factor, portability, processing and storage capabilities, graphical rendering is optimized, convenient with grab-it-and-go technology in the NextDimension.
