Porometer determines volume without using mercury.

Press Release Summary:

Capillary Saturation Porometer determines pore volume and measures liquid permeability. For volume, sample is soaked in liquid that spontaneously fills pores. Pressure of non-reacting gas on top of sample is increased to displace liquid from pores, and pore volume, diameter, and volume distribution can be computed. To measure liquid permeability, pressure is increased, and permeability is computed from volume of liquid flowing out.

The PMI Capillary Saturation Porometer

Porous Materials Inc. (PMI) is pleased to announce the introduction of its Capillary Saturation Porometer. This is the only instrument that has the unique ability to determine pore volume without using mercury and to measure liquid permeability.

The sample is soaked in a liquid that spontaneously fills the pores in the sample. The pressure of a non-reacting gas on the top of the sample is increased to displace the liquid from pores. The volume of displaced liquid from pores is measured. The pore diameter is obtained from pressure. Pore volume, pore diameter, and pore volume distribution are computed.

In order to measure liquid permeability, pressure on the liquid maintained on the top of the sample is increased, the volume of liquid flowing out of the sample is measured, and liquid permeability is computed.

The fully automated instrument contains a number of technological innovations, state-of-the-art components, and sophisticated windows based software so that testing time is small and operator involvement is minimal. No toxic material is used and the pressures required are very small. The instrument provides cost-effective and pollution free solutions for the varying needs of companies.

The instrument is available for sale, rental, or long term - lease.
