Non-Tack Surface Polyurethane Gel Casting Resin Formula, NTG-9
Most of the conventional polyurethane gel products, such as wrist rests for computer keyboards and bicycle seat-cover, are made by encapsulating polyurethane gel material inside flexible film or fabric covering. This is due to the very sticky surface of polyurethane gel, which is not desirable for many cushioning products.
The film-covered product design still works for many applications. However, it requires a more time consuming process. Our new formulation, NTG-9, can be made into cushioning parts without film/fabric covering. This allows product designer wider the designing freedom, and produce the products at a higher production rate.
NTG-9 is one of our polyurethane gel formulations designed to service applications requiring a soft elastomeric material with good cushioning effect, better strength, and less tacky surface than commonly available polyurethane gel formulations.
Whereas typical polyurethane gel formulations are used with another film or fabric materials covering the product surface, NTG-9 may not require such a surface-covering structure. This allows a user to make stand-alone polyurethane gel parts in mold without prefabrication of flexible film/laminate material. The low viscosity values of the component materials allow easy handling and replication of the mold surface at a high resolution.
Same as other polyurethane gel materials, NTG-9 does not bottom-out as easily as flexible foams. NTG-9 can be used in cushioning/padding products as pressure-point support segments supplementing flexible foam cushions. NTG-9 may also be used to make grips and padding parts for various products such as sporting goods, exercise equipment, and tools.
NTG-9 can be used in similar applications to where TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) class polymers have been used for. Whereas TPE polymers require high heat and high pressure injection molding process, NTG-9 can be processed at room temperature* in ambient pressure molds.
