Fortron® FX4382T1 PPS from Ticona Now Available for Food Handling Applications, Including Conveyor Systems

U.S. FDA and EU Plastics Regulation Compliant

Florence, Ky., Sulzbach, Germany, Shanghai, PR China – Ticona, the engineering polymers business of Celanese Corporation, today announced that Fortron® FX4382T1 polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Union (EU) food-contact regulations.

“This unreinforced grade is formulated to deliver long-term durability over the life of components found in food handling applications, including conveyor systems for food processing,” said Michaela Reuter, global business director – Fortron PPS.

Suitable for both extrusion and injection molding, Fortron FX4382T1 PPS from Ticona is a lighter, more ductile and tougher material choice to replace metals and other thermoplastics that are traditionally used in food handling applications.

It is ideally suited for use in applications that must maintain dimensional stability, thermal resistance and strength over a wide temperature range. Specifically, Fortron FX4382T1 PPS offers:
• High continuous use temperature (165 degrees Celsius / 329 degrees Fahrenheit)
• Especially good chemical resistance at elevated temperatures
• Extremely high impact, elongation and flexibility
• Excellent hydrolysis resistance and low moisture absorption (less than 0.05 percent)
• Dimensional stability — low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE)
