KEMET Introduces Automotive Polymer Capacitors



T591 High Performance Series Designed for Automotive and Industrial Applications



MUNICH, -- KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM), a leading global supplier of electronic components, introduced today its first automotive grade polymer capacitors at the Electronica 2014 trade fair in Munich, Germany. The T591 High Performance Automotive Grade Polymer Tantalum Series delivers stability and endurance under harsh humidity and temperature conditions.



"Polymer capacitors are very popular in today's high performance decoupling applications such as DC-to-DC converters," said Dr. Philip Lessner, KEMET Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. "The T591 Series was developed with enhancements in polymer materials, design and manufacturing processes to meet the increasing demands of the telecommunications, industrial, and now, automotive segments."



The T591 Series is available today in capacitances up to 220 microfarads and rated up to 10 volts. This series features operating temperatures up to 125 degrees Celsius and manufactured in an ISO TS 16949 certified plant. The T591 Series qualification plan was based on AEC-Q200 guidelines and is available for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Part Submission Warrant (PSW) and change control. In the coming months, KEMET will be introducing additional products with higher temperature ratings (up to 150 degrees C) and higher voltages (up to 63 V).



Typical uses includes decoupling and filtering of DC-to-DC converters in automotive infotainment and driver assistance applications, as well as industrial applications where harsh conditions such as high humidity and temperature are of concern.
